Alfred Stieglitz was a modern art promoter in the early 1900's, who worked his whole life to make photography an accepted art. Besides making photography an accepted art he ran art galleries in New York, introducing many European artists to the U.S.

This is one of my favorite photos by Alfred Stieglitz because it simple and elegant yet tells a story of this man. It tells me that he sleeps alone and he is alone in the world.

Alfred was involved with Georgia O'Keeffe, a famous painter who painted enlarged images of flowers.
She influenced him to take many pictures of her and obsess over her character, mood, and beauty.
